DAA Enterprises Inc specializes in developing software application to cater to the needs of retail pharmacies. Their application is extensively used across the USA.

The application, which is written in Visual Tools required frequent updates. DAA offers informational updates & application updates. DAA used to send these updates to all users through a Bulletin Board Service (BBS). This method was slow and costly since the users had to login to the BBS Server using long distance calls. DAA wanted to move this service to a Web Server and required the expertise in Web Programming and Web server setup. DAA also needed the expertise in establishing Secure Transaction of information through Web and protecting the files held in the web server.

RDS completed the task of web enabling the Visual Superscript application software. RDS developed the web enabled features as a component plugged into the current client-server architecture of the desktop application. The Microsoft IIS web server was setup by RDS. RDS enabled the client program to obtain all file updates seamlessly from the web server. This feature was provided from the client application, without the use of a browser. SSL was set up in the server for secure transaction of information. The files in the web server were protected using Access Control List authentication. Rational Unified Process was used for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Microsoft IIS 5.0 web server was used as web server; ASP Scripts were used for server side programming. XML was used as the transport layer to enable the client side program in FoxPro to interpret the Server responses. SSL certificate was used for secure transaction.

DAA improved their client's productivity and client's cost by providing timely and cost effective updates. DAA was provided a unified simplified solution to a complex environment, which also significantly reduces the cost of future maintenances. The solution provided by RDS eliminated the cost of training DAA resources in web programming and hiring resources for developing the web-enabled features.
